Air conditioner is only working in level 4

I just purchased my 96 sentra gxe less than a week ago. The A/C was working when i originally bought it. Today when i went to turn it on it did not work in levels 1, 2, and 3. It does however work in level 4. Could anyone help?
thanks

Common issue w/this series....mine zactly the same; it is generally the resistor, but a pain in the butt to replace. After 553K have chosen to just accept it as one of my girl's quirks and adjust the temp and fan direction instead. Course, living in FL not a big deal 4 six months of the year anyway....
