brakes

hi ppl i have a problem with my nissan, my brother found out that every time we use the a/c the brakes didnt work right. meanning that they took longer to stop the car

so he raised the idle a bit to compensate, but that happened everytime we used the a/c

my question is., how can i make the brakes work with a/c on and the idle the way is supose to be?

right now the idle is high and would like to have it right

thanks in advance

What does the brake pedal fel like when you do this? The braking should not be affected so long as the vacuum of the motor is not affected. Even then it should not really be noticable. I would return the idle to normal and check out the braking system. Perhaps it's time for new pads, rotors, fluid.

As far as acceleration being sluggish, that is normal, the motor uses power to rotate the AC compresor...

well first thanks guys for replying. well the pedal doesnt feel slugish is just takes longer to stop

like if the brakes loose power to stop the car with A/C on thats why the idle was raised

ill check brake system too, ur right and ill let ya know what happened after

I have the exact same issue. If I turn on the A/C, the brake stopping distance increases two fold. I press on the brake pedal, it feels fine, but the the car continues on. When the A/C is off, the brakes work fine. It is more prevalent on the street than the freeway, low RPMs.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks,
Nite Rider
