Stromung Exhaust Question

I bought a Stromung exhaust w/ resonator. Had it installed professionally and ran into a problem during installation. The pipe w/ the resonator was too short by about a foot and a half. Can somone please explain to me why the stromung exhaust for the 1.6L engine would be too short? I have a 98 sentra GLE.

Ended up having to pay to get the pipe extended.

not sure exactly but i remember issues about cali spec 1.6's and normal ones. something about the cali version having an extra cat iirc. do some searching and you should be able to find your answer

Yes and I believe the exhaust may be ready for headers with the SR20 cat under the floor, hence you are too short without the under floor cat. I am sure others know more...
Good Luck...

Yes you need a cat attached to the down pipe... doesn't matter if you have a header or not, same distance. Late model B14 GA's and CA models also had cats just like the SR20.
If you had a model that had resonator or cat welded into the exhaust system (under the car) you'll need to buy a cat.. Nissan OEM 98 200SX/Sentra 1.6 cat or SR20 cat...or Random Technology SR20 cat will work

Please refer to this for more info

See the cat between the Hotshot downpipe and the stromung...

not without driving around with a CEL on all the time, hopefully you don't live where emsissions testing is required.. if so you will not pass..

Yeah, guess i didn't research as well as i thought I had. No more emission checks in my state. Though the CEL will get annoying. The only prob with this is if i get the cat. then the pip i had extended will need to be shortened...

oh well. I see what happens when the time comes

extended???... so you're saying they actually cut the stainless flange off and welded normal exhaust pipe to it???

They didn't simply make a short pipe with flanges and bolt it in? Seems like any exhaust guy with half a brain would have known better...
