Carbon Fiber hood...maintaince?

Forgive me if this is in wrong thread, I'm still a but I need an answer as soon as possible. I have a 1995 200SX base...I was in a bit of an "accident" over the weekend. Busted the headlights, parking lights, ruptured the radiator, and crushed the hood. I have everything taken care of but the hood. It looks like hell and is starting to rust a little already. With it being summer, not THAT big of a deal (I live in Ohio...winters here are horrible). But I'd still like to get it taken care of now while I have the cash.
So my questions for ya'll are...1. what is the upkeep on carbon fiber? I've read about it going both ways. Just regular wash and wax...and then I heard you have to get special UV protectant wax. and 2. Is it really worth it? I can get a cf for $390 or a regular OEM for $200. I can save a good $200 just going OEM...
The company I'm looking at is ECCMotorsports.com...they have an ebay store if you wanna check 'em out. Lemme know what ya guys think...any and all help will be highly appreciated.

Thanx,

-Brandan

Just go OEM, unless you really like the look of cf. It's (cf) a lot lighter, too, but MUCH more fragile. First hail storm is gonna screw the cf hood.

CF hoods are SOOOOOOO nice *drool*. It's not worth getting unless you have plans to show or autox your car though. Depending on the damage to your current hood, you might be able to get away with banging out the worst parts and just covering it up with a hood mask or something.

dont buy a cheap one.
they fade, don't fit well, the edges aren't rolled, and it's too light. it vibrates going down the road (unless you put 8 hood-pins in it)and there are no washer squirter holes (i guess that's a plus though).

buy an expensive one. if possible buy from the same place where project 200sx got theirs from.

a good one should cost between $500-600 total. i would probably go with the oem look as well. the invader hoods or what ever they are called, are a little much

should look great as long as it's not far off from the color of your car (i.e. black, grey, etc.)

Talking

I HAVE A CF HOOD AND I LOVE IT. GOT MINE FROM VIS RACING AND IT FITS SNUG ROLLED EDGES, THE WHOLE 2 BIT. BUT THE DOWNSIDE IS THAT BECAUSE ITS BLACK, DIRT REALLY SHINES ON IT SO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP IT CLEAN. BUT AL IN ALL, I WOULD SAY TO GET IT. OH AND I AGREE THAT YOU SHOULD DEFINATLEY GO ALL OUT IF YOUR GONA GO BIG OR DONT GO AT ALL. GET THE EXPENSIVE ONE BECAUSE YOU WONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH ANY "DEFECTS" THAT THE CHEAP ONES ARE GUARENTEED TO GIVE YOU. NEXT ON MY LIST IS MY HOOD PINS BECAUSE MY FRIEND JUST LOST HIS HOOD FROM A BROKEN HOOD LATCH, AND FRANKLY, DONT WANT IT HAPPENNING TO SUCH A NICE CF HOOD.
