Doa search on this issue. It is the most common issue on AC systems on our cars. It is a resistor that needs to be replaced and this has been covered thoroughly.

Question regarding the ac/heating system in my car & seller questions....

Hello!

I'm hoping that someone on here might know a solution to this problem I need to fix with my car - actually 2 problems. I have a 97 Sentra (GXE) and I dont know - I actually started having the first problem last summer.....I went to turn on the AC, and I heard a clicking noise coming from I guess the fans that power the AC/heater. The next thing I know - like a day or 2 later, I turned the AC on, and it just wouldnt go on at all.....if I turn it up to #4, it works. 1,2, & 3 do not work though.....I do not know if this is a fuse/wiring issue.....if it is something that I could easily fix myself - or where in the car I would have to go and check this in order to fix it. I never bothered to try fixing it before because it was technically still working if I turned it all the way up, but now I HAVE to fix it because I need to sell my car before I move to Spain next month. I'm hoping this is just a minor thing because I've already dumped like $700 into the car in less than a year (new alternator and exhaust system) - I do not want to dump any more when I'm about to get rid of it. The other problem - and I KNOW this is definitely some wiring issue - the 3rd parking brake light stays on constantly.....then when you hit the brakes, the blinkers go on with the brake lights. Not sure if I'm even explaining the problem correctly, but I know this is a wiring issue because this was not a problem until I had the alternator replaced. It has not affected the performance of the car - I can signal fine....everything else seems to be working fine - I just think these idiots fucked up the wiring when they were putting stuff back together......the obvious solution would be to take the car back and have these guys fix it - but I'm not driving 2 hours back to the place to go do it and wasting time and money on gas......

So any advice here? And while we are giving advice.....this is the first time I'll be selling a car, so what are some things I should be doing before I sell it. (aside from fixing any problems) - mechanically its been fine....this car has been great - relatively no problems. The one major thing I had was the alternator - that has since been fixed and the brand new alternator is sparkling under the hood. The exterior is in relatively good shape - the interior is clean too. (which both will be cleaned again before sale) I'm still paying off the car, so that is the tricky part - I dont know how that all works when you are selling......

I leave in like a month for Spain, so I gotta get rid of my car before I go....I hate to give my car up though.....that was my baby

Thanks, man....just did a search and found what I was looking for.

Any ideas about the other problem though? I just downloaded the FSM, so I'm gonna take a peek in there, but just to make things easier in my search, if you have any idea what might be the cause of the brake lights staying on and blinkers going on when you hit the brakes....would be a big help.

Thanks again
