95 200sx

1.6L 5 spd. Sometimes you can turn the key all the to crank the engine nothing, everything come on but will not turn over, NSS? or what, how can you test these on this car. Any other ideas what it might be or how to test something else to see if that is the problem.

If the car doesnt crank, try turning the headlights on and watching them while turning the key.
If they dont dim then the starter/switch/solenoid is not working. Number one suspect is the starter.
If they go very dim the battery is flat/bad.

don't forget the clutch safety switch as well. it would do the same thing if not properly depressed/activated.
