Yesterday I drove through a pool of rainwater just over 2ft (deep enough to touch the undercarriage at least) and now my 'check engine' light has come on. Any advice? Could it just be an issue with something getting wet, water getting into something and it will correct itself/dry out? If not, what can I do, I don't want to spend any money on this car? Thanks in advance for any help.

Most major auto parts chains like Autozone or Advance will scan your car for free which should give you a clue as to what's going on with the check engine light.
