Unhappy HELP: my sentra is having issues and my G35 is wrecked, other had no Ins of course.

Ok here it goes this may be long….

(1) 99 sentra with the wonderful 1.6 auto, the car has started to make a weird sound from my belt area lately. It’s not an all the time rattle belt sound, but it comes around upon motor spinning, so it’s almost a constant sound now.
(2) This started after I had my oil changed and had driven the car around ughh 200-250 miles, I really doubt the oil change did it seriously
(3) My pulley is still tight (had the issue with the thing falling off in summer of 2005) I was thinking it might have came or was getting loose again but that wasn’t it.
(4) My power steering pulley however on the other hand is or has always looked a little shaky (wobbles) ever since I got the car back in 2004, at times the car smells as if it has a belt burning, but not a strong scent of it and cant even smell this at times and other times you can (have to be outside near the hood however to smell this.)

The sentra had been parked for awhile only driving from time to time. I thought maybe the sound would clear up after being driven for a bit since it hadn’t been far in the last few months, after over 150 miles its still there.

I have the maxima is due for service right now so was going to drive the sentra while it’s in the shop.

I recently got my G35 back from the ex about 2.5 months ago, but yesterday a wonderful ford mini van stalled out in the road and they for some reason slammed on there brakes and it was either jump the curb in the G35 and run thru a fence or the back of the van or cut to the left into a pick up, The G35 has some awesome brakes, but at 30mph and when someone shuts down right here they don’t work that well.

Anyhow the G35 is at Infiniti now with the radiator and cooling fan pushed back into the front of the motor, lost all the oil, transmission fluid and some fuel and of course the anti freeze, passenger door wont even open. None of the bags went off in the car (Thankful for this) the part I hate the most is that we got the G35 in 03 and we never drove it a lot and the mileage now on it is at 21k

The ford Minivan had no insurance and no Drivers License either and a warrant for arrest, he told me when it happened he said well if your admitting fault since you hit me I will just take your papers and go and well take care that way, I said no there was a accident, I am not admitting fault in anyway until the cops arrive, he said well look I have this issue, told me and I was like great! Anyway of course he left before the cops arrived, I gave them the tag number and I got 3 tickets for rear ending someone that left the scene!!!! In the first place he had no license and no INS! I was going 30mph in a 45 zone and there was no skid marks either, but the officer tried to write me up for careless /reckless driving, I said sure go right ahead and what witness do we have as no one stopped no one saw anything besides my sister that was with me and the fact that the other car ran. He wrote me some weird ticket’s for failure to observe driving conditions and adjust accordingly and one for following too closely and the 3rd for causing an accident! I was so hot plus the fact that my car I have worked so hard for dealing with the ex is now smashed rather badly.

However the fact falls I did rear end someone, but the fact was that I didn’t cause the accident in mine in my sisters eye’s, due to the fact that someone was driving illegally with no insurance on a state road way, I am going to talk to my lawyer on Monday with my sister and see if I should fight the tickets or just bite my tongue and pay the dang things, I am 27 with a safe and clean driving record and never had any claims ever and never even a ticket, and I will be paying to have my car fixed out of my pocket to save a claim on my car insurance even, as the fact that insurance is way too high now days for the fact there is so many claims and that others have no insurance.

The G35 was flat bedded to Infiniti and still waiting to see the outcome on how much this is going to cost me on this one.

Sorry about all the venting, I just had to get it off my chest, just makes one mad once you have played by the rules your whole life and did everything right and then it bites you in the a** when someone else who hasn’t played by the rules gets off basically with a slap on the hand if even that.

Thanks for any of the help with the sentra guys

here is my car picture link to the G35, as for all the Nissan and Infinits in there, my parents used to sell Nissan/Infiniti cars for a living so I always get killer deals on them, I will have to up load the other pictures of my G35 later and my other Maxima's I have owed also

go to court, i flipped my integra and got a careless driving ticket, and they threw the case out cus the cops didnt care anymore, and i got the ticket erased. of course my basic coverage didnt buy me a new car and because i was originally charged with the crime so i never got any cash from his insurance, we were gonna sue him but the car wasnt worth much in the first place.
the car doesnt look too bad, could be alot worse. but hey look on the bright side, at least you didnt wreck a black 6spd coupe...

The Infiniti dealer started work on the car yesterday and she should be done by Feb the 15th, guess a late sorta valentines day present for me (LOL) The damage wasn’t really all that bad, they are replacing the bumper, hood, grill, headlight’s, and the passenger fender and passenger door, motor mount’s and the radiator, belts of course, and the front cover thing, the oil pan was knocked loose and dented so they are replacing that as well and several fuel lines that was broken and the transmission fluid was a broken line so there was no damage on the transmission (thankfully) of course there is tons of other small things here and there they are fixing also, all for the low cost of 9600.00 I was like wow that’s lovely!

I was trying to be sneaky with getting the car repaired and not telling my parents as they always net pick things to death with the cars and since they used to work at Infiniti, anyhow my wonderful mom had called up Ron (my old salesman that sold me the G35) and he asked what she thought about my G35, she said oh I like it, but I wish he would have waited and got the 2 door, but he drives it all the time and loves it and has been a great car with no issues at all this far. Ron said well his car should be ready soon, she said what, anyways she found out and I got a nice phone call.

I changed the Transmission fluid on the sentra and the car runs a lot better now (or should say shifts) I think or still believe I have a bad mount I need to track down because of the jerk when its moved into park. I went ahead and changed the fluid even after reading all the scary write ups about if its not been done, my last time to have it done was 47-48k miles ago, there was a very small very small amount of silver in the fluid, I have driven the car more than 500 miles since then and so far all is well still (we giver her a few more hundred before we say she is ok tho) I still haven’t been able to track down the weird sound she is making that comes from the belt area (only after she gets warmed up I noticed) she still drives like she did back at 100k, well besides for a harsher ride now days. I have noticed that since I have got most of all the behind service done she don’t shift on the larger hills anymore unless it’s a Hugh hill (Oklahoma has hills not mountains) she used to kick out of lock up on a semi large hill and then on large she would go from OD down to Drive,

My last trip in her on Tuesday to Dallas and back to Okc running the cruise 75-80 she averaged a 36 almost 37mpg, Haven’t seen those figures since around the low low low 100k mark. The past few trips with combined driving is making me very happy with her again!

I am going to fight the ticket and worse comes to worse I will do the online driving school (ticket cost+35.00 school) That way I can keep my lower rates and safe driving record at least. I get multi cars, home and life, safe driver discounts now and don’t want to mess it up as it’s rather cheap for me that way.

Thanks guys,

Donnie H.

Thanks for the thoughts with my poor luck, the 30mph was really true this one time, odd I always tend to go around 5-10 over but we was just cruising that day thankfully. The other guy didnt have insurance, and Iam paying for my repairs on the G35 out of some of my stock from work. I know the 10k is a bit much but I would rather keep my insurance as cheap as possible, and its not just mine, it affects more than just me when someone makes a claim (just wish that everyone knew that and cared at times) I would have used my insurance if it had topped 10k, or had the car been stolen or totaled, but the 9k is fine for me to cover.

Thanks again,

Donnie H.
