Angry Instrument cluster no light

i am having problems with my instrument panel. the back light will not turn on when you turn on the head lights. i checked all the fuses and nothing happens. at first when it happend, the tail lights shut off and the fuse was blown then i replaced the fuse and it fixed it for a wekk then the light just stopped working but the tails workd fine. any thoughts please. it really sucks when you drive at nigt and cant see how fast you are going

Try messing with your dimmer switch. If you move it around and the lights come back on you either need a new switch or you have a short in the back of the switch at the connections.

Same thing just happened to me recently. No light for instrument cluster or HVAC. So I'm sure it's not a bulb issue because both sets of gauges do not light. Maybe nows a good time to get glow gauges, unless anyone knows what the problem may be.

OK... so I did some research and found that this is not an unusual problem. It seems others have found it to be a bad dimmer switch... which can be replaced or bypassed altogether.

UPDATE:
I temporarily bypassed the dimmer and the dash lights work again.
