This is one reason why I love Florida, no inspections.

horn for not being loud enough? wtf???

IL just has emissions testing, you can do almost whatever you want to your car as long as you dont exced the allowed emmisions.

(almost meaning you can't add lights to your car.)

Yeah I heard NJ was the worst place in the US to get inspections.

The biggest thing in NJ that they look for is emissions. Here, if the check engine light is on, you automatically fail. I got really lucky when I took my car through inspection thia past August. My check engine light came on the day after my car passed inspection.

One other word of wisdom to the OP, never use the Toms River inspection station. The Lakewood station seems a bit more lenient. I'm almost willing to bet if the CEL wasn't on, the only thing that might have failed would have been the wipers.

Out of curiosity... how much do they make you pay for this outlandish vehicle inspection?

lol around here there's a guy who checks your headlights, turn signals and brake lights and slaps a sticker on your car...

Oh, and I passed inspection twice in my Honda CRX without a horn at all.

In NJ, nothing if we take it to a state inspection station. I think it costs $50 to have a private garage do the inspection.

Is it the wiper arm or the linkage? There was a recall on the linkage because of water intrusion. You can contact you local dealer and see if you car was already done by VIN.

funny here in texas you pay just about any shop about 100 bucks and your car could a be an JGTC car and it will pass inspection.
