I just bought the car and am not real familiar with it yet, but have noticed a distinct clunking noise coming from what sounds like the left front wheel area. Can anyone tell me if this is bad shocks, bad struts, maybe a bad cv joint? It does it driving in a strainght line and pretty constant when encountering any type of bump in the road. The car has 80,000 miles, so I am sure original parts are starting to wear out!
maybe a bad strut mount or worn bushing maybe your swaybar link id check those first
Sounds like a bad front strut, loose wheel lugs, or worn bushing. I have 76,000 miles and my car ride smooth as hell. I was amazed how smooth this car was compared to a Civic Si.
It does not seem to happen when braking, just when going over any type bump in the road.
Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town, anyhow I had the exact same problem I also suspected the suspension however the problem was in the caliper of the brake system, as you may know the caliper holds the brake pads by 2 bolts (the ones that you need to unscrew for the pad change) one of these bolts were missing in my car and it was making a clucking noise going over bumps. And the noise was going when I was applying brake. You may wanna try to look at this, it is an easy solution. I found that out when changing the brake pads and discs in my car 2 weeks ago. Actually my bolt was broken stck inside so mines were took lot of time to work on however there is no clunking in my car anymore. good luck.. if you need instructions I can help you

If it's the caliper, then wouldn't he feel it while driving instead of ONLY going over bumps. On my Supra when the caliper bolt broke, I would feel everything. Clunking while driving and clunked even louder during braking. I thought I was going to loose a tire.
my car does a clunking noise from the right wheel area when you turn like something jumps, but only if the car is wet. It even happens if the rain gets on the car but its not been driven and only when i turn the wheel. sorry i dont mean to thread jack

Mines didnt you what you described, there was a loud sound only when passing over the bumps and if I push the brake pedal while passing over the same bump at same speed, there were no sound at all..

i have been experincing that same noise(havent tried brakes over bumps yet), i belive my strut on the pass. side is poorly attached the the suspension member, plus the ball joints are shot. repairing soon, any1 want to give me an estimiate?
