My 98 Nissan 200sx is having problems with the windshield wipers in that the motor still works, the wipers will work if you move them but there is no connection between wipers and motor. Is this fixable? I'm just having a rough time driving in Florida weather lately with the rain. I have to pull over into a parking lot everytime it rains.
Thanks.
Yesterday I had to pull off my whipers in order to realign them, it was hitting the body on the side of the windshield. Though I couldnt get my passanger side one off.. lol The motor and the .. thing holding the blade .. has small teeth lining it so when it bolts down it gets a solid connection and wont slide as they are used. Just pop off the bolt cap and use a 14mm wrentch to unbolt it and pull it off, it sounds like the teeth are warn on yours causing it to slip.
I dont know if you can get Just those two specific parts without replacing the whole motor and/or blade. Youd have to ask a parts store or a garadge.
Oh, also.. my mechanic ("co-worker") said to hit it with a hammer if it wont come off easily. Of course be careful not to smack anything else or hit Too hard.
My neighbor took the bolt off, etc. and I can see in there, I see the metal rod on both sides which meets in the middle, one fits on top of a bolt of some sort and when together my wipers work; however the arm slips from the bolt and then they stop. Is that part expensive?
Um.. cant really get a visual of what youre trying to say. Then again Im comparing it to my 95 200SX.. it Shouldnt be different, but I dont know. Just call a local Nissan Dealer and give them your VIN, they will tell you.
I know the name of what was wrong with the windshield wipers. First I went to Discount Auto, the linkage bushing went bad. Of course they did not carry for Nissan, that particular part, went to where I've gone before but to parts and it is called the Linkage Assembly, I need both left and right, price is not bad, almost 20.00 total. My friend downstairs said if I can get the part he will put everything back together.
