noob tire question
what size tire can be fitted to a stock b13 rim (175/70/13)
can fit falken ziex 512s which come in 185/60/14? What will happen to ride handling/ comfort and noise? I do arounf 350 miles a week.
where can I buy decent priced tires. None too expensive
aditya

Those will fit fine, if you have 14" wheels to go along with them.. if not you have to get 13" tires to fit your 13" wheels.

On my BMW E30 I ran teh Sumitomo HTR 200... and they were a pretty good trade off of decent grip and longevity.
I plan on going with them for the sentra with 175/70/13. I am sure they also make the size you're looking for.
Also, the Ziex are really squishy in turns, but comfortable in a straight line I hear. But then again, I don't know what you're going for.

You take the tires and the car to any tire shop...they charge about $10 (give or take) a tire to mount and balance
You should look at upgrading to 15's, they will mount and balance free and send them to you ready to install.. if you buy the wheel and tire package.

If he just wants a comfortable ride, I think his 13" tires will be fine. Also, considering he has OEM size wheels, he can fit pretty thin tires on there, which is better in rain and snow.
You cannot fit 185/60/14 tires on an 13" wheel (I believe the ones from the factory are 13").
www.tirerack.com is also very easy to use, with a wide selection.

How is thin better in rain? Less patch on the ground less traction..
His wheel size was already discussed..

Less patch on the ground = less likely to hydroplane
So thinner tires are safer like on the freeway, where as wider tires are better for grip in turns, at speeds far less than those on freeways.

thanx for the answers
Well I have decided on a tire (within budget ! yay + a rebate)
the yokohoma avid touring.
methinks they will do. what are ur thoughts?
also discount tire has a installer close by.
one last question remains is size choice between
185/70/13 and 175/70/13
and should i opt for their (discount tire's ) hazard program?

If it's the stock steelies, I don't think the 185 will fit very well, as they may be a little wide for the wheel.
As for the hazard program, small holes can be plugged for like $5, and if it is a catastrophic blow out or something, these size tires aren't worth it IMO, since they are so cheap to buy.

okay I feel I have a deal now.
4 yoko avids touring = $148 (175/70/13)
4 valve stems = $12
4 tire install = $50
rebate =-$25
total = $ 185.
thanx everbody
