about my 91' sentra

okay guys, i have a 91' manual sentra XE, which is a 4 door :/

im just askin for your personal thoughts. anyways im 17 years old and worked my ass off by selling computers and finally got nuff money to buy my sentra for 1,200 off some mechanic guy in oakland who hooked it up :] . i hella love this car, but i always think to myself: if only i had a SE-R. i know the ser is lighter, better suspension, and a beefier engine and stuff... and im just wondering maybe when i have enough money should i just buy a whole new SE-R and ditch my sentra, or try to mod up my 4-door like hell.

im not thinking about seroiusly being a racer, but i love the sensation of speed and acceleration, and id like it if my car was pretty fast and such. but meanwhile, im saving up for header and exhaust piping and muffler. my friend suggested for me to get custom 2.25 piping at a muffler shop (he said it was pretty cheap) and just a magnaflow for my muffler. do you guys think this is the best way to go? and do the constructions of headers between different brands make a HUGE difference? i see a couple of chrome headers on ebay for like 120, then the "name brands" ~200 dollars.

i'd appreciate the input thanks guys

i say you can mod your 1.6 in a way that it will be reliable yet quick. just do basic bolt-on like. Cold Air Intake, Header & exhaust to start off. then when you start saving more then next thing i would do is get a racing clutch & while your at it you might as well put in a Lightweight flywheel. with these mods you will be ok for a while. but keep in mind that your car is not gonna be super fast, but it will feed your little hunger for speed. oh and the se-r is not lighter! you did ok by getting a XE wich is the lightest of the sentra models. you can also do a little wheight reduction wich will help you take off the line a little faster. About the header question, it does matter but being that you are young and on a buget. I say go with the Cheaper ones. They will still get you some power without breaking your wallet. Oh and you can bump your timming a couple of degrees for some free Horsepower. you should look into that Just do a search on how to do it. Then when you get out of HS, lol! look into getting some JWT cams & reprogram your ECU(computer) in your car. you might get the occasional "GET A SR20DE" instead of putting all your money in the 1.6 that will still be slow. (Just like above) But unless you can come up on a SE-R really cheap then id say go for it but for now just stick to the 1.6 and tune it so that you can get some knowledge before jumping right into the 2.0 SR20. But either way with these mods i mentioned you should be ok. Oh and just for fun....when i had my 1.6 the way i had it wich wasnt many mods if i would of put in a 50 shot i would of killed an B13 SE-R with minor bolt-ons. hope that helps. just goes to show you what your XE can do.

the E model is the lightest and (imho) the quickest GA16 B13. no power steering, no A/C, no power options....simply everything you need nothing you dont. i fawking love my E.

just keep your car unless you can find an SER in good condition for a good price. And for the headers dont got those cheap ones. They have bad construction, and to get them to fit and work properly i might be alot of work. Get what works and just go hotshot and save yourself alot of trouble.

Save your money. Drive the car until it quits and don't put any more into it than necessary.

oh yeah a general question guys. if you drive too fast (~90's), is that hella bad for your car? because the other night when i was on the freeway i was going down hill and was going almost 90, and my car felt like it was going to freaking explode and i got hella scared so i went down to 80. so is there a limit on how fast i can go? or should i not try to push my car any faster than around 80?

and if i get more horses on my car, will it be easier to go over 80 without it having that feeling that its "going to explode"?

my E stops at 80. but i cruise on the parkway at around 75 with no problems unless i let completely off the gas, then the car shakes till i either give it gas or take it outta gear....at eighty the car just starts to shake violently but the motor seems like its not revving all that high (GA16, 4 speed manual, no tach). the hifghest ive gotten the car to is ~95 and after that one time ive decided to NEVER go past 80
