Fan relays are triggered by grounds sent to them by the ECU. Automatics use two wires for two different fan speeds, using three relays and manuals use one wire for a single speed and one relay.

I am asking because I am getting new fans, but I am questioning if it may be the sensor that also does not work properly, that is why I am wondering where this sensor is so that I can replace it.
? I dont think this is an unreasonable request. I understand that the fans are controlled electronically through the ecu and grounds, but there must be a sensor that tells these devices to turn on the fans. I am asking what the location of the sensor is so that I may replace it.
