Not sure whats going on...

Lately when I start the sentra she starts fine but the rpms imediatly drop like it is going to stall. then it comes back up to a somewhat normal idle. Would anyone have an idea what this could be? The other night it almost stalled and the check engine light came on then off for a breif moment.

what is that? IACV? My car does this too sometimes... sometimes it hesitates for a second before going!

IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), sometimes referred to as AACV (Auxilary Air Control Valve). On the Ga16DE it's located (facing front of car) on right side of upper intake plenum. easy to get to. Here's a link w/pics Catman posted. CHeck it out. Same process should work on ones from other engines, though they may be located somewhere else... just check out a haynes manual to find out where it is.

Here's the process on a different engine (sr20? dunno):

hope that helps. mine is having the same trouble as PeaNut.... but then again my AAC doesnt seem to be working....currently trying to find root of problem.

See I thought that the IAC would make the idle erratic. Hmm I'm gonna look into this on my nrxt day off.
