Hey sweet, havent been here in like 6 or 8 months and I can still log right in.

Anyways, you shouldn't need to replace the alternator, but if you do, just go to autozone or something. Mine actually died, so I had to replace it.

I'm running a system drawing more power then that, and the only issue I've had with it is my battery light glowing during hard acceleration, so like I said, you shouldn't need to replace it. My guess is that you've got an electrical issue there, or just need to get a capacitator.

70 amps, and do some research before you start throwing money at problems. 500 watts peak shouldn't really be dimming your lights. You're gonna want to make sure all of your grounds are clean and secure, and then upgrade 3 wires to 4ga, not just toss in a cap, although it may help. The 3 wires you want to upgrade are battery-chassis, battery-alternator, engine-chassis.

what cables need to be replaced? I'm running close to 1,800 watts in my stereo, I just emailed the guy at MrAlternator.com to see if he could make something.. my lights haven't dimmed or anything, and I have a duralast gold top battery (same thing as a yellow top, but with 50 less cranking amps, and it doesn't have the gel technology). Any ideas on what I can do? a cap is a waste of money from what I've been told. any helpw ould be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Johnny!

Capacitators aren't a waste of money, if you have light dimming when your subs hit then their the easiest fix. They store up power so that when your amp draws hard for a second it can get the power it needs without sucking the rest of your electircal system dry.

Just stopped at AutoZone!!!

Yeah my alternator is not crap i just found out my '92 is still the origianal and putting out only 2 amps less than stock. I found out some of my problems were my ground, connections on the alternator and the belt was starting to wear out. The guy also said that since it was the original alternator that it might be a little slow that is why the lights dim he said that a cap would be a great thing to add to my system.
