i searched, and couldn't find anything on this topic. i got a 91 coupe with the GA and a 4spd standard tranny. the tranny is dying and i was wondering if its possible to swap in a 5 spd tranny as opposed to just replacing the boring 4 spd.

You sure can, it'll bolt right up, but you'll need to change the driver's side tranny mount to the one for the 5 speed. The bracket on the chassis for that mount will be the same, but the rubber portion of the mount and bracket will be different. The part # is 11220-50Y05.
