My friends 91 Sentra with a 4 speed automatic "slams" when it shifts out of first, into second. That is the only time it does it and it runs smoothly all other times. Is there an adjustment for that? thanks

thier might be a cable adjustment?? but i am not sure...

if the tps voltage is off, it might cause that (only for a/t trannys)

if not the trans shift soleniod is gone or thier is a broken spring in the tranny

The 1-2 valve may be stuck or one of the line pressure modifiers or the line pressure regulator may be stuck...
