Gti-r Det

I would like to get a powerfull engine in my 91 sentra se-r. And was looking into getting a gti-r det for it and was wondering what complications there would be installing it. And where is a trusty place to buy it from.

I've heard mixed reviews about flashoptions, and there was a whole fiasco with them not getting in a whole lotta motors. For a little more and some piece of mind, I say go with JGY or Heavy Throttle

What to swap:

DE distributor
DE main wiring harness
DE fuel injector wiring harness
DE temperature sensor
DE throttle position sensor
DE air-idle control valve (extend wire)
DE O2 sensor (you will need the O2 sensor adapter nut off the DE exhaust manifold as well)
DE flywheel (if using a DET from an automatic)
DET power steering 90° bend onto DE pump
DE AC bracket
Sentra DE throttle/cruise control cable bracket (for 95+ SE-Rs)
What to fabricate:

Intake piping
Downpipe (3" or 2.5" id)
What to buy:

JWT ECU w/ turbo program (model year specific)
A new clutch and stronger motor mounts will be needed, best to do it now while you have the engine out
What to modify:

You will need to extend the wire for 02 sensor on manifold
Upper flare nut on the master cylinder needs to be ground away a little to clear top mounted IC piping
Crossmember will hit the tranny in one spot, it needs to be dented in a little
Battery moved to trunk or reoriented in engine bay for extra clearance
EGR is capped off (there is no provision for EGR on a DET)

Also don't forget that the top mount intercooler most likely wont fit under you B13 hood unless you smack a hood scoop on there. Or you can get a front mount.

Just get a Blue Bird. It's alot less complicated to tune and the Blue Bird intercooler fits under the B13 hood without any problems. I would suggest a hoodscoop though, especially on those summer days. Blue Bird motors can be picked up between $1300-1800. You don't have to swap over the distributor.

If you're planning to go front mount, you can get an Avenir which has the same HP as the GTiR but does it with a T25 due to an improved turbo manifold design.

^^^ Also, the Avenir T25 has a ball-bearing center section.

yes...thus making it much more effiecient. but remember the ball bearing turbo from the avenir came only after 1996...or somewhere around there.

JGY customs informed LOVEMYSER that he could run the top mount IC iff he installed a bushing set on the hinges of the hood. Thus elevating the rear of the hood enough to use the top mount and a small fan. maybe 3/4" to an 1"

IF your strapped for cash that is.

LOL, just cut a hole in the hood!! Don't make thing's more difficult then they already are. Your gonna spend about 3000$ for a good gti-r front clip. Ex.top mount ic. turbo, in working condition when recieved. Do research, I got mine from heavy throttle but I don't think they deal with gti-r's any more. GL

Ummm, installing bushings on the hinges is a lot less complicated and effortless than actually cutting a hot in the bumper.
