Haha!! She PURRS!!!

I just finished my JDM swap and success!!! I had a problem initially.... I switched the fuel lines, oops... but now it's running and running well!!! I'm stoaked. First motor swap. It took 3 weeks from the time it blew until now. Really I think 2 weekends of work would have been all that it would have taken if I had worked on it consistantly and had all the parts. But anyway... I'm excited and I thought Id share with all newb mechanics... it's possible!

Well by JDM swap I mean that I replaced my USDM w/ a JDM engine cause I blew mine. I actually eleminated the A/C cause it wasn't working and I didn't want to fix it. Plus it makes the car lighter. I retained the PS. It runs really well... just took it out for it's first spin. No probs yet... well a little tiny exaust leak.

Little tiny exhaust leak? You should just take the whole exhaust off. That's awesome though. Hopefully soon I will be in your shoes.

How much was the shipping?

JDM motor...

My motor "blew" last week. Got a JDM motor, transferring stuff to the JDM motor. New water pump, front and rear oil seals, new clutch, radiator (that blew up too), hoses, NGK plugs. I will actually pull motor Monday and finish the job either Tuesday or this Sat. I hope my success is as good as yours. late

Everyone doing a jdm swap ,I would suggest looking at your rod bearings before you put the motor in.
I just ordered a motor from soshin early this year and the #4 rod bearing was already going out.

Its because of all the testing they do on the car it doesn't allow the last rod to oil properly everytime.

Good luck anyway

$421
First, try a local importer in AZ. They did 3 test, compression leakdown and oil pressure. I got mine from Attarco in Sacramento, CA 916 920 2522. I believe they will ship anywhere.
They delivered to my house.
Give them a call. late.

Sorry... I was away for the weekend.

Ok... I got my motor from K. Watanabe Importers in So Cal... that's where I live so I don't know about shipping. I paid 400, and then you get a $50 core charge when you return it. 2 months ago the sr20 was $250 from the same place so the price fluctuates. homepage is kwcengine.com.

I didn't open the bottom end... I should have but I didn't, my parents wanted their garage back. I replaced the wheel bearings while I was at it... 180 total after being pressed in and everything... ouch... I replaced the clutch and pressure plate w/ nissan oem. 124 from the dealer. I resurfaced the fly wheel. I used the USDM manifold from my old motor. I have to in CA. Any question just ask.

Oh yeah... I pulled the motor out the bottom of the car. No chains. Just jacks and lots of them. I had 3 good jacks. and 4 jack stands in use at different times. You can pull it out the top but you need to separate the tranny first, I didn't do that just dropped them both. I would suggest leaving all of the accessories on the motor and changing them over while the motor is out... much easier exp. for the PS pump, whatta pain in the car. The motor runs great. My clutch cable is stretched so I have a temp fix for that I may get a little metalpipe welded onto the bracket to make up the space. Car runs great though! Im excited.
