A/C Re-Charge - am I missing something?

Hey,
I recharged my Mopar a few weeks ago with a retro-fit kit and it worked great. I'm trying to do it on my 93 Sentra GXE.. hooked up the valve to the low-side but can't get the stuff to flow out of the can. Am I missing something? Is there a valve I need to move on the car itself for the stuff to start flowing? Could my compressor be gone? If so, how can I be sure? Thanks for the tip.

So you've already evacuated the system, put new seals in and are trying to put the 134a in and it won't flow in? I just found out my compressor is shot so I'll be swapping a used but functional one in and be refilling with 134a. The way I could tell mine was shot was because the system had new seals, was fully charged with R12 and was still not blowing cold air, even downright hot air at times, and the compressor never cycled on and off, it always stayed on.

I'm trying to put in a retro-fit sealing product with new refrigerant. My compressor doesn't cycle off or on at all and I don't know why the stuff isn't coming from the can. If I attempt to take the valve off the can there is plenty of pressure.

System has been evacuated and is under zero pressure at the moment.

It doesn't even feel like the compressor is on but then again both fans are constantly on in the engine.

Is this the same sign that you had that the compressor is shot?

Thanks for the help.

They way i did mine was like this.It was low on pressure so I had to kick the compressor on manually.Your compressor needs to been running when you charge your system, Take the plug (the one with a little yellow wire that runs in to it)off the compressor and turn the car on. Next hit your compressor with 12 volts. You should hear the compressor click even with the car off.

Before you do this have some boiling water handing when you start to charge the system put the can in the hot water. It makes the can hot and will flow much better.

Other than that I don't know what to tell you other than you mught be hooking up to the high pressure side.

Good luck
