not running well??????

i have a few doubts.....i have a 92 sentra XE. it might just be me, but i dont think it runs the way it should....i have a cold air intake, and full magnaflow catback exhaust....and i still dont see a chirp from first to second gear!if im not mistaken the 200sx has the same engine as mine....my friend owns one and his is all stock no mods, and i can make his chirp but not mine...why is that???also, his car can beat mine in a run...we have ran them about 3 times and he took me on third gear..i had him at launch but then caught up and spanked me....what could it be??i know one of the reasons is because i might be shifting at thewrong rpms since these cars dont come with a tach......
i just want to know if any of u guys can give me some insight on a few runs uve had and how well u did.......
thanks

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is that the 200SX that you're trying to race has a 2.0 probably (200SX SE-R), unlike the 1.6 that you have. Maybe thats why you're losing.

Is your XE a 2 door or 4 door? That could be a difference. Also, if your friend is running the 1.6 the 1996+ has some changes done to it making it a little more effecient. Do you have AC? Does he?

Also, when was the last time you change your plugs, wire, cap, and rotor? What plugs are you running? Ever clean your throttle body? Are either you guys running advanced timing? Do you guys run differnt gas or additives? How are your battery terminals and grounds?

There are a lot of things that could effect this.

If it catches smoothly from 1st to 2nd, it's your clutch. I had the same problem. My clutch seemed fine all the time except when I tried to shift quickly during a race. It would slip slightly right as I shifted into 2nd preventing a powerful chirping shift. If you have a good clutch...then....I dunno

I would have to say that part of it could be the suspension. If you have a softer suspension setup than the 200SX, then you're going to have more body surge to the front when you let off the gas to shift causing more downforce to be placed on the wheels not allowing them to chirp.

If that's not it, then I would say that it's the clutch.

also the type of tires you have might affect it (width) when I switched rims, I couldn't chirp it anymore.

my sentra is a 2door.....i last changed my plugs to platinum about 2k miles ago, my distributor cap, wires n rotor about 1k.....i rescently changed all 3 belts, i did the fuel injection service about 1k ago..ive done all it needs........i have 16" wheels with 1 1/2" drop suspension technique springs on it...i always run 91 octane fuel and he doesnt..we both have a/c..so what i think is it might be the clutch, this weekend im going to put my stock tires n wheels on it to test it.....
my firneds 200sx is a 97...with a ga16....ive driven his and on his i can feel more of a pull from launch.....
