Unhappy help! electrical question

So I basically somehow permanently hotwired my car when I shorted 2 wires off the stator for a split second while installing a tach. The ignition switch now only starts the engine and turns on and shuts off the radio and blower motor. All the other electricals and the engine stay on. I now shut the engine off with a kill switch to the coil. If I wire a momentary off switch to the negative lead to the battery it will reset (i.e. turn off) all the electricals without even resetting the station presets on my cd deck. This seems like the perfect cheap solution (40 bucks for the high amp switch) but will momentarily cutting power every time I stop mess up my computer or anything else?

I wouldn't leave it like that, next thing you know you'll have an electrical fire. Why were you getting into your starter wiring to install a tach anyways? Fixing the problem shouldn't cost you anything to get it back to normal. I don't even know what to tell you.

Yeah, I probably need to just fix it right. I wasn't gettin into my start switch when I installed the tach. I hotwired it by shorting something out somewhere that's letting current get to the ignition system continuously, regardless of the ignition switch position. Uggh. If I'm looking at a new distributor (??) it's gonna be over 200 bucks for a rebuilt one. Aight, where'd I leave my multimeter?...
