Intake Installation

I just received an HKS Megaflow intake for my SE-R and I'm about to install it, but my friend said something about resetting the ECU for the increased airflow. I've never heard of this. Is this true? And how do I do it?

Dunno why your friend said what he said, but to reset the ECU, take off both terminals on the battery. Give it 10 minutes and then put the terminals back on the battery.

The ECU takes time to learn to newer surroundings, and it may need that with more airflow than the stock airbox. However, this doesn't call for resetting the ECU. Do it anyways if it pleases you to do so.

PS, this friend of yours, does he have an SE-R to back this up, or any experience with Nissan cars? Just wondering.

Ok, well, I'm not sure where he got that idea. No, he doesn't drive an SE-R or a Nissan for that matter. He drives a 2001 Integra LS. I guess he installed someone else's intake for them on their '94 Integra and they reset the ECU for it. But thanks for the info, I might reset it anyway. I dunno.

To properly reset the ecu, use the reset screw on the side of it. Turn it all the way clockwise, wait a few seconds, then turn it all the way back counterclockwise. Thats it, ecu is reset and you don't lose all your radio presets. I believe in your year the screw will be on the passenger side of the ecu. ECU is below and underneath the ashtray kind of, you access it from the side via the kickpanel area.
