strut tower bars and sway bars

okay so i've heard and read a lot of interesting things about strut tower bars and sway bars. is it true that having a front sway bar limits traction on a track? i've heard the best track set up is front and rear strut tower bars and a rear sway bar. whats the deal with this?

Sway bars not only help with traction but also with handling. Strut bars take care of chassis flex during taking sharp turns. The setup depends on what kind of the suspension the car has, its weight ratio, wheelbase etc etc. Based on those factors and on the kind of track the car will be on, a certain setup is used so as to make the car run at its optimal.

some people say that not having such a thick sway bar in front will help get more traction in autocross

You should get both f&r strut bars, check ebay for the front bar and active tuning.com for the rear bar. Then get the energy suspension f&r sway bar bushing kit to stiffen up your stock sway bars, i did all this and it really improved my cars handling without spending too much money...

struts wasn't really an issue. i'm going to get front and rear struts regardless. i want to get aftermarket sway bars....just not sure whether i should get the rear one only. the stocks just arent good enough for me even with the polyurethane bushings. sorry if i sounded confusing in my earlier posts.

The stock se-r front sway bar is good enough, as long as you use the ES poly bushings to stiffen it up. If you want a bigger rear sway bar i would go with the Progress 3-way adj. bar...

how helpful is the adjustability? progress bars are a considerable amount more expensive than suspension technique bars..almost double the price! is it worth it?

Hey samk checkout nissan perf. mag.com, there's a write-up by mike k on one of the back issues about the progress rear sway bar. Mike says the ST rear bar tends to bind the rear suspension and never really feels or fits right. I would go with the progress 3-way adj. bar over the ST rear bar, just my 2 cents...

I have front and rear STB's right now and they make a big difference. I'll be selling my front and rear stock sways when I replace them with ST's. I'll also be selling my AD18 front brakes once my AD22's get here.
