I'm running 2" pipe, and a Dynomax turbo with no resonator. A resonator will reduce "drone" on the highway, and probably some of that horrid metallic "angry bee in a tin can" Nissan sound.
Performance gain without one? Probably. Huge? Probably not.
If you are only replaceing the muffler I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a cat back that will be replaced anyway. If your replaceing the piping as well, you may want to replace it will a larger diameter one. I'll be replacing mine soon with a glass pack from the cat to the 2" piping. About 24" I think.

leave the resonator on. I did with my magnaflow and the exhaust is quiet. but it did make my hs intake very loud than without a resonator so it shows more air well flow through with one on. Plus not having a resonator on, makes the exhaust sound crapy and loud and makes that popping sound like most hondas have. So just try it with the resonator off then on.
when putting on one of these new exhaust system is it a simple plug n play application or is there some tuning to be done to the carburettor/fuel injection system or something else. The reason I asked is that i read about a too rich a mixture of gas and air and the opposite - a too low mix. This can have your tailpipe either chalk white or real black inside.....advise and opinions please.....
I'm wondering about this myself. I just recently installed a universal muffler with 2 1/4 inch inlet and dual 2-inch tips... Now keep in mind that I'm not running a cat', but my exhaust tips are jet black inside. I run the stock resonator, as I'm afraid to loose any more back pressure than I have already, so is the car running to rich or is it just my imagination? Thanks.
