the better idea for performance!!!

i have two options, that can branch off into many possibilites, but the main goal is high performance.

I have a 94 le sentra 5 speed, that has the se-r interior, tach, front end, and has 178k miles on it.

I want performance, such as sr20det, with brakes and suspension for all around performance on track and street.

The problem i'm running into right now, is do i want to upgrade my car, or do i want to buy a se-r and start from there. Of course i've read the many posts about how hard it is to swap, and that you need EVERYTHING from an se-r, but buying an se-r is like 3000 to start with. Upgrading to an sr20det is about 3000 also, so why would i want to buy an se-r and then one day swap out for a sr20det, or even get a turbo kit, when i can just buy the sr20det and work on getting all the right performance parts for my car from scratch instead?

I just want to see what other people think about it, because i love my sentra, it's a great sleeper car, so far i'd raced many cars in my ga16de, and defeated them with the amazement, i'm just very curious as far as how a se-r drives. But if someone would like to join me in the process of figuring out costs and labor for everything i'd be very appreciative. With me, i'll have plenty of money to hook up the car, i can afford to spend 5k this summer on upgrading my sentra, or buying a new, whatever the case may be thanks.

I say turbo the GA16, that's the most cost effective route. If the motor craps out, put another GA in, or do an SR swap at that time. Do a brake upgrade all around as well.

Well with your 1.6 having 178k miles, you will need to rebuild it for the turbo. I say sell the car and get an Se-r. Besides, if you get an Se-r, you will be content with the performance of it, moving up from the 1.6 to the 2.0 until you have the money for the turbo motor.

reminds me of thos twads putting Chevy V8's in their Volvo 240GL 'familycar'. They're like with a 90hp stock wagon, only now it's got ~500HP under the hood.

Remember, it's better to lose against a more respected car than losing against a shitty car...
