So, I fiured I'd throw my extra cam-cover on and send my original out for powdercoating. My extra is a G20 camcover, I had a friend bead-blast it for me a while ago, then I threw some black wrinkle paint on it. I cleaned up the bottom side because I noticed some blast media still inbedded in the gunk. I scraped and scrubbed, and it looked pretty clean. I then put it on and went to run some errands. I drove about 15 miles, and at my last stop when I started my car again, I heard some valve chatter. But it only happened at 3000 rpm, so I figured I should be able to nurse it home. UH UH, didn't make it. I got to my exit and the chatter turned to a very loud chatter and squeeling!! I shut it down and coasted onto the shoulder. I got out and popped the hood, and unscrewed the oil cap, white smoke billowed out. I tried to start the car for the hell of it, no start.
Today, I went out and pulled the cam cover and got a look at the head, it looked like black pearl paint, I could see blast media all in the oil. My theory is that there was tons of it left in the baffles. I said a prayer and flushed the engine today, then did a oil change. The car starts now, but has a death rattle and blows smoke from the exhaust.
