Well...the best turbo motor is none of the above! It's the SR20VET from the X-Trail! It has 276 hp and NEO VVL(sorta like a VTEC honda).Of the other 2,I'd take the GTiR engine since it has a better turbo and bigger injectors.Remember that with ANY of these engines you'll also need a trans from a SR20DE FWD car since all of these engines are only available with all wheel drive. There are other parts needed too,but the're covered elsewhere in the forum.

so are the sr20vet parts just as available as for a det? if i burn the comp/wire harness or head gasket. how likely would it be to go to auto zone or pep-boys and get replacement parts????? could you show me maybe some links for the best prices?

To learn more about VE motors go here:

http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthrea...threadid=18317

You're not likely to find many VE parts available readily in the U.S. from what I understand. The GTiR is similar in that regard. BB and Avenir DET's share more parts with USDM SR20DE's. Places to get prices are www.jgycustoms.com www.kwcengine.com www.sr20development.com and good lunk finding an SR20VET if you do, let us know what they cost. My ballpark guess, $4K+. If you're going to get a BB or Avenir DET, then I'd try to get a blacktop Avenir (known as the W11) it makes ~226HP with a T25 at rather low pressure plus it's going to be a newer engine. If your car has rather low miles and has been well maintained and cared for, you might want to look at turboing your car, it might be cheaper and easier in the long run.

The thing you gotta remember about ANY of these swaps is that the engines were NEVER offered in the U.S.,so there are going to be things which are unique to these engines that you won't be able to buy at the local parts store.True, some parts are shared with the SR20DE and some interchange with USDM models but some will only be available overseas.I have heard that the X-Trail is available in Mexico, but don't know anything more than that, and it was first built in 2002 so parts won't exactly be plentiful in the used market yet.If you are considering ANY JDM swap you will have to be up to the challenges they present and realize that parts availability is one of them.

actually MOST parts are shared with the engines...its only the gti-r that is going to be hard to find parts for...

get a bluebird longblock and customize it...the others arent worth it
