I need better brakes...
Hey guys I need some ideas on how to upgrade my brakes.
It's a 1.6L...the brakes are getting pretty shit. I have to bleed the lines and since I'm going to be "down there" I thought I might as well replace the pads/shoes and the rotors.
I might get some calipers and lines too...
Can I fit SE-R stuff on it...???
How about NX2000?
I tried doing the search bit, but it wasn't really what I was looking for.
Any help would be much appriciated.
Thanx again guys.
PS I'm running stock rims, so please keep the clearance issue in mind.
You didn't read what you found, then. NX is direct bolt-on to SE-R, I want to say the GA16 cars have different hubs but I'm not sure. You better search THAT issue.
Oh, I DID miss the part about stock rims. No-go with NX brakes.
Man, this smiley thing is a pain in the butt.

I bought Stillen metal matrix pads with Brembo OEM Rotors and noticed a HUGE improvement in stopping power. I would highly recommend the pads, no fade, not even from higher speeds.

You could always put AD7HA rear discs from an SE-R or NX on, that would certainly help, and put AD18VE's from an SE-R on the front. You'll have to check but I'd think that SE-R brakes all around would fit under your stock 13's, I know for certain that the AD7HA's will as those come on ABS B13's with 13" stock rims. You'll definitely have to swap the rear hubs out when switching from your LT18C rear drums over to the AD7HA discs, and you'll have to check about the fronts to know if the AD18VE's will bolt up to your spindles or not. You'll also want to swap out your master cylinder for the one from an SE-R/NX since that's the one all B13s with 4 wheel discs have. Also using RBF fluid and putting in stainless hoses will help with prevent fade. I used to overpower my XE's brakes all the time, they indeed suck. The best street use pads are OEM Nissan replacements if you can afford them, not sure what they cost.

If the AD22 won't fit the GA16 hubs, the SE-R AD18 won't fit either. Do not do the rear disk swap without putting bigger brakes on the front or you will get unwanted rear brake bias.
I could overpower the AD18 on my SE-R easy enough, I don't think you'll find that a worthwhile upgrade route. Either find aftermarket calipers and rotors that fit your spindles or upgrade the spindles so you can put AD22/FastBrakes on.

Quit it, I'm just trying to help, I don't have all the answers that's for damn sure. Not to mention I paid $80 for a damn FSM and I use it every chance I get.

Yes, your car weight plays a big part in brake performance. I crew on an ITS SE-R that weighs 2240 pounds and with ad18 and with race pads it outbrakes everything else in its class without fade. Race pads will eat your rotors like candy if you don't get them hot, though, so don't consider that a viable solution for a street car.
