Newbie with Questions.....

Hey guys.....

I have a 92 4 door, 5 speed Sentra, It has been in the family since it was brand new. I drove it when I was 16 only for about 6 months. When I drove it then it had a break problem, and still to this day it does! It is now just sitting in the back yard rotting..... and I would like to do something with it?? I just don't exactly know what to do?? This would be MY first project car..... I helped my B/F with his Civic Hatch, and now I want to do my own car! He told me he would help me if I needed it, but I want to do this myself. Could you give me some ideas on what could be done?? The help would be appreciated!

Peace

what sort of brake problems? Like they werent working, or were too soft, or the car was shuddering as you tried to stop?

I am really not sure what is wrong with them, When I was 16 they would every now and then go out on me, so thats why I quit driving it. I actually ran into a building once, it didn't hurt the car because I droped it down into first and pulled the E-Break...... so that slowed it down..... lol... But now, the break petal just goes all the way to the floor, and now the E-Break dosn't work?? I did bleed the lines when I was 16, and I just got the car back to fix it. Do you think it might be the Master Cylinder??

Peace

If it's been setting for a while you might want to proceed carefully and make sure everything else is working. Your emergency brake issue tells me that there are things other than your master cylinder that need attention.

Oh yes, I am very sure there is more that needs to be done, but that is my main thing right now. After I order the Master Cylinder and get down in there I can see what else I need to do! Thanks for the help!!

Best of luck in getting it back on the road. They're great little cars. I drive my 94 to work almost every day and it's got 177k miles on it.

before you change out the master cylinder, try bleeding the whole system first. it could just be air in the brakes.
