stuck wheels

i bought new tires and went in to get them installed. but the lug nuts on the old tires are rusted tight. No one could get them off. I tried a few places. None of them could get them off. Greasing etc has not worked.

In one last gasp. I have decided to ask the forum on ideas that I could try to get the wheels unstuck.

Help!

take a torque gun and just rip them off, and replace the studs. ( of which ever are cross threaded )

Who was the last one to work on that wheel ? You or a shop ? If it was a shop, take it there with your original reciept, and tell them THEY did it, and have them fix it for free charge..

Where can I get a Torque gun? I dont even remember the last time anyone has worked on the tyres since I got the car.

Please tell me stuff I could do with minimal financial investment.

is there a Les Schwabs near you ? Or any type of tire place ? Big O Tires ?

Take it to them, and they'll do the whole thing for like 10 bucks a stud, this includes removal of the old one, and replacement with a new one. Labor and parts included.

But make sure they are cross threaded.......Grab a long pipe that wont bend and just stick that on the end and try to break it loose....it hsould come free, if it doesnt, then it truly it cross threaded. Then you would have to do what I mentioned about ripping them out or taking it to a shop for them to do it.

I seriously doubt that ALL the lugnuts are crossthreaded. The lugnuts are probably rusted and so are the studs. Since putting ANY KIND of lube on your lugs is a BIG BIG no no, they tend to get rusty sometimes.

You'll just have to get a breaker bar and try to get them off. If you break a stud, you replace it. Be ready to replace a few, i.e. have new studs and lug nuts with you as you remove your lug nuts because you're gonna need em.

Hi thanks a lot. I recently bought the car and hence have this problem. I will try everything this weekend. I have already bought some spare lugs.

bad idea for a novice. Unless you KNOW what you are doing I'd forget about a torch.

Have you tried hosing them with penetrating oil and letting it sit for a while? If that doesn't work then I'm with slacky. Heat the bastards up, grab a wrench with a long pipe on it and give her hell!

3ft breakerbar from autozone is like $25, this should break anything loose... if it doesn't come off then it will snap em off. I would just take it to a shop and let them F it up, if you F it up first then they usually charge more.

tellin ya it works, i dont mean like a ascedalyne oxy torche jsut like... a habachin grill mini propane tank and a torch head, somethin cheap that works is fine. its what i did for my dads mini van and not only that but after all the lug nuts were off the rim STILL wouldnt come off sooooo i took a lil drive up the driveway until the problem was "solved"
