Hey I'm a new member and I just got a 1992 Sentra (Standard) as my first car. I plan on putting on some basic bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) but I want to get the car in decent condition first. The lights that light up the speedometer and such doesn't turn on when I turn on the headlights. Right now I'm using a mini flashlight to drive around at night. Also, the passenger door doesn't shut fully. It shuts and it'll stay closed but its not..totally closed. It doesn't lock either. I'm pretty sure that, that has to do with the door alignment, I don't know about the lock. Would these problems be adressed in the service manual? Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
The door hinge needs to be replaced on the pass door. It's common among b13's(saggy door hinge syndrome)
For your dash lights.....is it just the guages or is it the climate controls also?
If your dash is the only thing out, check your fuses. If all your lights are out check your reostat(sp?)
::EDIT::
The lock might have been damaged over time due to the door hinge not allowing the lock to contact the striker correctly.

This might sound REALLY stupid, but have you checked the dimmer switch? Might as well check that before you start replacing things.

In this case the rheostat,(yeah I learned how to spell), and the dimmer are the same thing.
The switch that activates the headlights and parking lights is also refered to as a dimmer switch, the Headlamp dimmer switch.

I did check the dimmer switch. No luck. Probably the fuse. Door hinge huh? I thought you said the door needs to be replaced for a minute. haha
But the car is overheating at the moment and so I have to take it to the shop tommorrow. I'm not sure if its the radiator or the cooling fan. It eats up coolant though. I put in a quart at a gas station and I drove for less than 2 minutes and it began overheating again. I sure hope I didn't mess up the head.
Sounds like you have a hemmoraging leak somwhere. If your not loosing coolant on the ground then It's safe to say at that point that you've got a blown head gasket or worse, a cracked head or block. let us know what your mech says.
Also, which lights aren't working? just the dash or the dash and center?

Turns out it was just a hose leak. (thank God) So yeah. I have yet to try and replace the fuses for the dash lights. The check engine lights and al that come on, but the speedometer, temp gauge, and fuel gauge don't light up. Its kinda weird driving around with a small flashlight showing you that stuff. Kinda funny at the same time. Also dangerous probably.
Any testimonials on the hotshot headers? Also, what would I use to up my timing? Whats the highest I can go without having to go to higher octane fuel.
