Installing Tach in 92 XE

Ok I know that the difference between the 91-92 and 93-94 Sentra's is the gauges on the earlier ones were mechanical. What I am wondering is did Nissan offer a model that had a tach in it for the 92's if not I will just have to add an aftermarket gauge and that is fine but I don't wan't one of those ricer gauges that has the giant dummy light on it. Does anyone know where I can find an A-pillar gauge pod. So I can try and make it look as normal as possible. I have found plenty for the B-14's but no luck with the B-13's

Thanks
Leland

here
just search around and you'll find that there is acouple websites that offer instructions for a cluster swap from no tach to one with a tach. lotek makes a gauge pod for a 91-94 2-or-3 gauge

So how hard do you all think it would be to place a 92 SE gauge cluster in a 92 XE, I of course am figuring the engines would have to match so there wouldn't have to be as much modification but as far as the mechanics of the gauges they should be the same. With the Speedo being mechanical instead of Electronic.

moderate, just be sure that the doner car you get the gauge cluster from you also get the wiring harness from behind the cluster, give your self at least 6" if possible for possible error when wiring.

It is possible, i did that to my Sentra E '93 some time ago... just re-wire everything and get the TAM signal from Car computer, you don't have to cut cables, just unplug them from the connectors and put back at right places... there's an article in www.nissanperformacemag.com about "Instrument Cluster Swap" with diagrams and all the steps needed.

Good Luck!
