Raise the idle speed up higher (till it stays running then slowly decrease it) and try replacing the fuel filter, it's what worked for me on my 87 when it gave me a hard time.

Angry Carburetor in a black trench coat w/12 gauge

Dude, I have replaced my carb 4 times @ $1,300.00 a pop (new from local dealer). I am so friggin tired of it, not broke by a long shot, just sick of the back and forth garbage with these carbs. I spoke to Nissan regarding this issue with these carbs, Nissan admits that YES in '87 the carb was a bad design, though B11's were carbed this was not the same carb as a B12. They would NOT give me a price break on the part considering I have 78,000 miles on the car documented by smog papers and motor vehicle administration. With reicepts from the same dealer on the same part on the same car! Still they refused to assist (I think the age of the car had a bit to do with the decision too) Nissan stood firm, no help. . . Because a carburetor is a MANUAL PART, unlike F/I whos mixture is electronically controlled by the ECU. The carburetor itself is the sole controller of the air/fuel mixture. The ONLY way I know to test one is to take it to a dealer or go to a smog station. ***LATEST NEWS FOR YOU GUYS ABOUT ME*** I just found a shop to do my engine stuff & they are twenty miles from my house!!! I do not know if I should get the E16S converted to a E16I like Rice Box was telling me, or swap in a E15ET? I can get the E16I parts from a local junkyard w/ECU & harness for maybe $300.00. As for the E15ET cannot find this car no place were I live, I have found the motor ($550-1,300.00), & the ECU/harness $200.00 together! Now that the holidays are around my car money will be my Christmas money. Maybe around March I will be back in the car game for the old B12. Keep up with me guys or mail me for pictures. gconway1@msn.com -Greg

well u go ahead bid wiley and keep shelling out 1300 a pop. me , i cant afford that so i think ill rebuild it first until i can save up enough dough to holler at boostboy and his people. no disrepect 87 , but u could have even upgraded to the ga motor with little and or no mods besides the wiring of course. and even still i think u would have come out a tad cheaper, keep shopping , dude. i know there is someone near u that can do what u want done without putting u in the house.

Lightbulb Carb smarb!

I did find a shop that can do ALL I want, in the lower half of the Email I tell about it! E16S to E16I conversion, or E15ET swap. You still have to bust knuckles snatching wire harnesses so I may just go E15ET since basically the same labor is involved. I am NOT going to spend another grand on a carb for it to gas-out 3 years later. boost_boy is the man, he CAN take care of your car! Mail me some pictures somebody, not later, now!
