Unhappy Door Adjustment help

Supp all!

Was wondering if NE of you guys had experience in adjusting the door hinges?... My door gives a nice "KA-THUNK" sound to close it. What hapens is that it hits the latch but i have to pull in and up to close it properly.

Is there a way to do this adjustment with out dismanteling the front fenders? I was looking at it and it seems hard to get at the bolts without removing the front part of the car...

I tried the latch first, the door closed easily but it dont line up with the body when shut...

would appreciate the advise...

Had the same problem with mine when I bought it. The pin for the door hinge had worked itself loose. Lifted up on the door and knocked the pin back in with a hammer. All's fine now.

Just got the bushings ($5.15 each) small metal pieces. I got 2 of them and will replace the bottom part of the door hinges. Will let you guys know the outcome.

Jon I'll check both doors and see if the both are in order. Thanks for the insight.

You will need at least one of the hinge pins replaced, the lower one. For a door that is as far out of alignment as you've described, you have gone far beyond wearing out the brass bushings. You now definately have at least one badly grooved pin. BTW, I have found the lower pin to be quite difficult to drive out at times. First, knock out the door check pin, to allow the door to open fully. I have modified a slightly curved air chisel bit, for the job. It works great. I say slightly curved, because you will find that you can't get a staight punch to contact the pin directly. There isn't enough room. Also, make sure you pack the new bushings in wheel bearing grease while putting them in. Lastly, the bushings and pins can be gotten at auto parts stores as well. I found them at my local Napa, on those cards hanging on the "Help" racks. Cheers

Thanks for the tip 310!

I bought just 2 out of the 8 that I might need because it is $5+ a pop. I might be able to fully do the job right if these parts are cheeper at my local car shop.

speaking of doors swinging, anyone know what the best lubricant for the door is? My rear door is kinda difficult to move...
