I bought an '89 Sentra from my neighbor. Had to replace the engine, and now I need to replace the tranny. I can't shift into 2, 4, or R. Plus I found bearing when I drained the Gear oil.

Tough Love.

I would like to know if there are any intricacies that are different from the 4-speed tranny to the 5-speed tranny. Such as linkage, shift plate, bolting patterns.

I am a complete novice to the automotive world and have only recently had my OTJ hands-on training with the engine swap.

Newbie me.
To the land of Steel and Aluminum.
My car is a heap, just sitting in the driveway, covered in dirt.
I have been searching for the possibility of making it a 4-wd, T-top, rack mount, off road buggy.
But time is of the essence.
Employment is down the street, but I have to bike it for now.
If anyone has any suggestions of where I may go for info, or if the tranny swap from 4 to 5 speed is simple, please help.
