The problem here is on a 1990 Sentra, with the GA16i TBI motor and 5-sp.
Problem is that the radiator fan does not turn off - ever. Fan kept going untill the battery was dead. Right now we have the fan relay removed and a pair of wire leads to turn the fan on when needed, but whatever temp sender controlls the fan is still stuck on even on a stone-cold motor.
So, where do I find the sender that controlls the radiator fan? I looked on the radiator itself, like our '86 we used to have, but it is not there. Where is it please?
I dunno much about the GA. On a E16 it's on the radiator. The temp sensor is by the gooseneck. Has anyone here been able to fix his problem via the sensor? Cuz it seems like it's always the relay that goes bad.
I'd start by swapping out the relay. If I remember correctly, there are a couple of those relays around under the hood. you could always try swapping one out and see if it still stays on. I'd try that first. the only time I have had a temp sensor go bad, the fans would not kick on.

Already swapped relays. Actually, the original relay in there died. Swap in a different relay from one of the other systems, and the fan comes on all the time.
the temp. switch for the fan is located on the passenger side, on the thermostat housing. Sounds like a short to me, but at least you can test the sensor to find out what the problem is.

Okay, guess I'll have to look through there again.
Does the sensor switch the positive, or negative side of the controll side of the relay? I have tried looking for damaged wiring, but the harness bundles are so darn thick...
the sensor that feeds the gauge has a spade connector, the sensor that feeds the fans (and also feeds the ecu) has a injector connector. the ecu is also provides a ground for the fans... if I remember right. both sensors should be on the front of the engine (pass.side)

I have been having a problem with my temp gauge, it doesn't work. I have a 12 valve E16 1989?? suggestions?
