I was wondering what kinds of special things I would have to do to swap to a SR20DE from my basic 89 sentra. Would anything be the same or would I have to start from stratch.

yea, way to help out, can anyone tell me where to start when I put this engine in. I wont have a problem getting it in and mounted. I just dont know how hard the wiring and the rest is going to be. All that is needed now would be the necessary wiring to get the car running. Anyone that could tell me anything useful would be a great help.

Guys guys guys...
This is only the most talked about swap in the b11/b12 forum. Do some research, and then come back with more specific questions. Heck, people talk about this swap so much I'm beginning to think of MYSELF as an expert (far, far from the truth). It's not a lack of willingness to help that you're up against here.

I was hoping to be able to connect the original wire harness with the 89 if at all possible. I know that everything wont fit perfectly, but since they are both nissan engines I think that it will mesh together. One thing that is going to be a problem is the ECU obviously. Once I get the right ECU for the engine I hope that things will fall into place better.
O.K. lets start by saying this. If you don't have at least two of the four things here this will be hell. time, money, mechanical knowledge, and fabraction skillz .
The SR20 is one of the more diffacult swaps for the B12 so bare in mind, that you should do alot of home work, and know what your getting into first. Second it's not that we don't want to help. But there is a grip of people that want the same thing your seeking. And most try to skip the most important part, and go right to shove the engine in and dumb shit the wiring and bitch about how my car isn't working right. and ask Why? So what I myself would say
Help you ? Yes.
Do all the leg work? No.
Give you good knowldge ? Yes.
Hold your hand ? No.
I hope this helps? I ,Like many others get tired of answering the same question overand over again to people that won't use the knowledge right.
And to answer.

As my mother, a former cheerleader and certifiable lunatic stated on the first day of school....
"GO OUT THERE AND LEARN!!! Rah!!!"

Alright, that's cool. I wasnt trying to piss anyone off. I dont anyone to hold my hand through this because I wont learn anything, I agree. I was just curious about a few things before I got started. Thanks for the help.
With the tranny, the B12 has a different engine bolt layout to the bellhouse than the SR. What would be my options? Should I just get the tranny from the SR if at all possible, or could I just create new holes to line up with the SR with the B12 tranny?
You have to use the SR tranny since yours will not bolt to the SR. I am not sure about the axles cuz it might have a different number of splines or it has a different length. You can try PM Nismodriver or Hybrid DET since they are the expert with SR swap to B12. Also, the 89 wiring harness are all integrated as to one big bunch, unlike cars with MPFI, it has a seperate engine and chassis harnesses. It would make it easier if you have both engines FSM or Haynes/Chilton books for reference.
