What is the proper way to disable the AIV? I am installing my header finally and I need to remove the AIV plumbing. I removed the pipe that runs from the manifold to the rubber hose coming off the AIV, but I haven't really taken a good look at the rest of it. I want to make sure I do it right so that the car runs correctly.

I believe that there is a hose that comes from the airbox (for fresh air) goes to the AIV valve, from there you have the metal tube that runs down to your manifold. I believe the only other connection is the vacuum line that operated the diaphram to push the fresh air down into the manifold. as long as you cap everything off, I don't see where you'd run into a problem. If you don't need to pass an emissions test, you should be fine. unfortunatley whenever i get around to a header, i am going to have to go through the trouble of having a bung welded in for the AIV....
Nick, please let us know how the header fit and what exactly you needed to do to get the EGR connected back up. I'd love to see a pic of the finished install.
I removed the line that supposedly connected to the exhaust manifold and plugged the fat hose coming out of the AIV unit. After running with my header for almost a year, I do not have any problem at all. Although I never went to get it emmision checked, so I cannot verify that it will pass. My gas mileage went up a little bit due to my heavy foot cuz of new found power, hehehe!!!
