Ok, so my sentra hydroplaned a few months ago, spun around 180 degrees and slammed into the concrete separator in the middle of the highway. The driver, yours truly, was a little shaken, but not stirred. It was early am and no one was around except my girlfriend who was following me.
A fire truck going the other direction saw this happen, and called the police and EMS to make sure I was ok. After talking to them, I decided the car was ok to drive home, which it was, for the most part. The rear right was bashed in fairly significantly, and the roof was pushed slightly to the left. Oh, and I bent both wheels on the right side, and a tie-rod end.
The biggest thing to me at the time, was that the rear windshield had popped out of its hole in the body, due to the roof shifting slightly to the left. The hole that the rear windshield goes in isn't completely straight anymore, so it simply won't fit. Luckily I keep a good length of marine-strength rope in my car, and I was able to lash the rear window on and drive it that way until I got home.
So now the car drives just fine, but it's still kinda smashed in on the rear right side, and my window is still being held on by rope, but it now has cloth and duct tape making it somewhat waterproof.
there's a picture of it
here - the duct tape job has since been cleaned up slightly though.
So, what I am wondering is whether I can fix the window so I can fit the windshield back in. I would like to do it myself, if at all possible. I'm also considering possibilities of fixing the dent back there myself. I am currently looking for another sentra just like it, but I wouldn't mind spending a few days fixing up my baby. The engine is still strong as an ox, and I love how easy it is to fix (most) things.
Any clues or suggestions as to how hard this would be and what tools/strategies I could use to fix it? Any help is much appreciated!
