Help me decide if this 89 Sentra is getting donated to charity

OK ~150k miles.

Needs exhaust cat back

SOmething wrong with where the speedo cable meets the dash cluster; can't get speedo and odo to work

Timing cover has a crack in it. Been trying to get it off for 2 days now with no success. on top of that I don't know if I can find a timing cover without going to the junkyard and pulling it myself.

I think I could get 5-700 for it.

Should I

1. Finish Fixing it
Cons: huge time investment
Pros: coudl sell car for full price, sense of accomplishment

2. Part it out
Pros: Might be able to get even more than for the whole car....probably more than the charity write-off
Cons: I live in a townhouse community, it wouldn't be looked upon favorable to have this thing sitting in my driveway; but I guess I could button it up to where it woudl look presentable; but what if someone wants to buy a door or the wheels/tires?

3. Donate it to charity

Pros: Quick and easy
Cons: Tax writeoff isn't a great value. Can't exaggerate cos they are cracking down on that. Feeling that I had to give up.

Automatic and there is some rust from a small dent in the rear and little spots on the horizontal surfaces.

Ahh if it was a manual, I'd say sell it to me.

As far as your speedo cable goes, I recommend getting a new one. I had the little plastic piece on mine snap off and putting in a new one is fairly easy. They are $40 from Nissan, so probably very cheap from a junkyard.

not sure about the rest of that stuff.

I've seen sentras with minor problems going for around 800 these days.

I say put in a motor from an se-r and profit.

91 se-r's

that would kinda be a waste of money wouldn't it? You'd have to have custom mounts made and all kinds of crap.

That's what I mean, he'll have done all that work just to turn around and sell it, not being able to enjoy the fruits of his labor(unless that's money).

you only have 20 posts. We're not done with you yet. Keep the car. They're easy to work on and relatively cheap to fix.
