(88 pulsar...manual tranny) Ok ..I pretty much know the procedure for removing my old half axle and installing the new one but have a couple questions..The new axle that came from Advance auto has the 2 boots on it and their sealed on each end with metal rings, do I have to open them up and put grease in or do they come greased...Second question is do I need any other parts to do this job like seals, gaskets or any other strange parts?

Don't open them up....there's already grease in there. You should replace the axle seals on the transmission. They're pretty cheap and not too much drama to install. When you're putting the new axles in remember not to hammer on the end of the shaft. There should be a groove on the inner housing you can put a large flathead in and hammer on that to pop the axle in place. As long as your down there how bout removing the caliper slide pins, cleaning them, and regreasing.

Thanks Myetball, I was afraid I had to go to Advance Auto again, might as well get my fuel injector too..I'm taking the calipers off to do the brake pads so I'll grease the pins and such, along with replacing the struts, tie rod,tie rod boot and ball joint..Tomorrow is going to be a looooong day...Have to also try again to get the thermostat housing off(very tight spot), maybe I'll screw around with that on Sunday...
if you are taking the brake calipers apart, greasing the slide pins is a good idea, look at the condition of the rubber boots that cover em and take notice of strange wear on the slides. I clean all those parts with brake parts cleaner to get all the old grease and dirt out too, don't know if that's right, but it hasn't caused me any troubles. there is a parts kit you can get with new rubber boots and the sheetmetal slide things that the metal part of the pad rests on, i forget what else it contains. If you take the brake hose off, be smart, make sure that the copper washers on the banjo bolt dont bind when you tighten it or you'll need a new banjo bolt and nobody stocks them, and most parts stores look at you like you asked for a 'flux capacitor' ( they might even send you to the audio dept. )
well... csk/pepboys, didn't try napa, the guy there last time was baffled by my wanting a tool to do flares for brake lines, and brake lines themselves. they knew what they were but had no idea where to get one.
lol. thats why i tell them were to look for them. I know everyone at my shucks store so i dont have problems...helps to know people i get 10%discount to (like it really helps)
