OK here is the story...As some of yall should know i have an 89 sentra Ga16i thats my sisters. Well when we gave the car to her it had 202k on the clock. we pulled the car out the woods and started to rebuild it for her. well we did everything but the piston rings. (what a very big mistake!) Well now it has 248k hard miles lemme tell ya! Right now its leakin oil and actin really shitty. Well i wanna know if it is about time for another rebuild or shood i be not be rebuildin it now. that may sound confusin. umm i dont know how to put it tho. is it about the right time for another rebuild or shood have the head gasket shood have lasted longer than 46k miles.

head gasket should have lasted longer, but depends on if you torqued the head down right. Also, run a compression check...i have a feeling that you might need to rebuild and have the cylinders bored. That is if you want to keep that engine.
I thought longer about this and figured a whole list of problems...i'll list them:
1) I've stated alreayd, head not torqued down right. If it wasn't to bad gotta start all over again, new gasket and torque head down right
2) Warped head, look for water in oil and vice versa. Although that doesn't always happen with a warped head, but could be cause of oil leak.
3) head and/or block was not clean enough when head was put back on, cause a high spot in gasket allowing fluid to seep through.
4) for some act of god you have a cheap head gasket and it got blown out.
And a question of curiosity, has the engine ever been overheated??

Well this car got a fresh head with 46k on it. Now you know how some 18 yeer old girls can get crazy in a nissan. This car has been thru literal HELL! i think one time we replaced the temperature sensor. I dunno bout this bout i think we put a new radiator in it but i dont beleive its ever been over heated just runnin a lil over normal temp. When we put the head back on we followed the torque specs in the Haynes book. We also followed the order to tighten the bolts up. But im thinkin the cause is the chick behind da wheel! ooo i almost forgot it was a felpro gasket. Next time i think i will goto a dealer ship and buy it and maybe it aint gonna blow out. Also i have been readin the haynes manuel about it idling erratically. It said it could be cause By the head gasket for some reason.
fel-pro is better than most people give them credit for. And yes bad head gasket could cause irratic idle because of loss of compression in one or more cylinders. i'm gonna guess that for some reason the head gasket is dead. Can't think of any good reason for that though, driving habits shouldnt' affect that unless its been overheated or ran without oil.

You should have done piston rings, they aren't that hard at all. With the headgasket, use a Nissan OE part. If the head wasn't torqued down in the correct order or removed in the correct order, mill the head true. As for the oil leak, where is it located?
