Miss for a few seconds at 2500 to 3500 rpm...

Ok. On my 1.6 88 Pulsar, I get some missing/ hesitation usually at 3500 rpm. Sometimes it happens as low as 2500 rpm. Is this a common problem. I swear my old Sentra 2 dr dis the same thing. I have new plugs, cap and rotor, but I am still using the original plug wires. Other than that my car idles great and pulls ( ) smoothly at all other rpm ranges.

TIA,
Sam

I had the same problem and never figured it out. I changed everything except the O2 sensor. Maybe try that.

adjust TPS sensor .... play with it until its getting the idle .. obviously on idle ... and not so positioned backward ... so you get a better reading in between idle/WOT ... if it still does the surge... change it...

Mine does the same thing occasionally. Not as bad now that i changed the ecu but that was different problem. Only thing i've concluded is O2 sensor but I can't get mine out cause its pretty well stuck in there. If i was running EFI i would say screw it and just unplug it, but the TBI doesn't run well without an oxygen count. Look elsewheres on the forum to find info on the O2 sensors, i know there are some cause i've posted in most of them
