Why won't my rebuilt motor stop smoking?!?

So I rebuilt this 12 valve mitsubishi motor and I put it all back together and it's still smoking... and yes it's got new everything... I dunno what's wrong with it... at first it was smoking really badly, but it's gotten much better... but still it's pissin' me off cause I dont' wanna tear it all apart and rebuild it... any thoughts? anyone else run into this kinda thing before??

Smoking really bad at first after rebuild but getting better? I'd say you need to break it in and seat the rings. Start by warming it up, then run it up to about 4k at half throttle then let the engine slow the car then back up to 4k for each gear. Then do the same thing at full throttle to just before redline for each gear. For the first 100 miles don't drive at constant speeds accelerate and let the engine decelerate the car. Avoid heavy traffic too.
