IP cluster newbie question....

I have a '90 Sentra sedan. It's basically stock(given to me by my sister) and as far as mods, I've replaced the door mounted belts with the ones from an earlier 4 door model.

My main question is: I've swapped the IP cluster with the cluster from a 2 door hatch. The IP cluster with a tach. I've spliced all the wires that matched, except the ones that were left. The three wires, a red w/ white tracer(marked on the back of the cluster as "tacho"), a red w/ black tracer, and a blue w/ white tracer. Everything works except for the tach(of course) and the brake light does not come on when the car is in neutral, running, and the e-brake is engaged. With just the ignition is on, the oil light, alt light, and brake light come on. Please advise.

Thanks in advance,
Frank

I think there is a resistor (or something, i think i saw someone else swapping the cluster. search the forums ) needed to make the tach work... i don't have the FSM infront of me now.

if you had a B14, I could help you out, the best advice I can give you is that the wires can be found either by (coming from) the ECU or behind the radio. Nissan only includes the wires that are necessary for the original cluster, if the wire wasn't in your old cluster, you have to hunt for it.

for example, in the B14 sentra, to swap in a 200sx tachometer cluster, we need to find a blue wire w/ orange stripe which is located behind the radio. Good luck with your project.

the green link below will lead you to my B14 writeup, it may help you out a little.

You need to run a wire from Tacho to your coil. Like this or this . In fact, by looking at the one I repinned already, you should look closely at this The green ones with black stripe and the red dots are spliced together and pinned to the bottom left hole. the next pin in has the 2 black with red stripe wires spliced together. I think they have to do with the dimmers. Did you see the post from when Racerx did his? Myetball put together a really good bible. neway, hope this helps.

Thanks Web, I just finished hooking up the tach, but all I did was to splice the wire from the tach to the red wire with the white tracer(this is near the coil, and was wrapped in clear plastic tape), and it works.....
