Am I getting ready to blow 200 bucks?
My bone stock 88 sentra e16TBI has developed an intermittent problem of losing the ability to maintain engine speed. the car always starts and runs fine starting from cold, but stop for gas with a hot engine and you will not be able to accelerate past 35-40 mph because of engine surging, The surging also occurs when accelerated in neutral. the surging is totally rhythmic so I dont think it could be caused by fuel line obstruction. I'm thinking that my air flow meter has developed a temperature sensativity problem and is cutting out leaving the engine a fail-safe mode sending short regular spurts of gas through the injector. Does anyone think I'm on track with the solution or am I getting ready to spend $200 on an AF meter that I dont need?
