Timing Chain/belT?

Does anyone know if the GA16i has a timing chain or belt?

Interference?? the last time I checked if the chain snapped, you wouldn't have to worry about "kissing a piston"

Actually, yes I am I was told that if it never snapped I would never have to worry about it. Then again, it is running a 9.4:1 compression ratio. As far as I know, very few SOHC engines are interference. My buddy snapped his timing belt on his KA24E without damage at all, and he even kept trying to start the damn thing up.

Yes that's right. If it never snapped you wouldn't have to worry.

What do you mean I wouldn't have to worry about it? Oh wait, I typed "never", I meant "ever". Stupid fat fingers Yeah I know the GA16i to KA24E is apples to oranges. Since I got my head off my motor, I'll check to see if any valve fully open will kiss the piston at TDC, but it doens't look like it. The pistons are dished down. Hmmm, take them pistons and have them modified flat, and that'll bump my compression....
